A Table That Feels Like Home
A story of memory, belonging, and a table that feels like home.
Nina the Greek began long before there was a name above the door.
For founder Nina Sophie Chanel, the idea was rooted in memory: family gatherings, long tables, and a beloved Greek restaurant on Davie Street in Vancouver that became part of some of her most cherished moments. Years later, after making Bahrain her home, those memories became the starting point for something new.
She imagined a restaurant that didn't simply serve Greek food, but captured the feeling she remembered: warmth, generosity, beautiful simplicity, and the effortless intimacy of gathering around a table.
The space came first.
Nina envisioned it almost as an extension of her own home: personal, layered, and full of stories. From the objects and details to the artwork that traces moments from her life, nothing was chosen simply to decorate a restaurant. It was about creating a place with soul; somewhere guests could walk in and immediately feel that they belonged.
Then came Chef Hussain.
Joining the story later, Hussain was given the task of translating Nina's vision into food. Together, they began shaping the menu, taking the spirit of Greek cooking and giving it a contemporary expression that felt unmistakably their own.
His approach brought the culinary side of Nina the Greek to life: generous, vibrant, and deeply rooted in flavour, while leaving room for creativity, modernity, and the influences of Bahrain.
What began as Nina's collection of memories became something they could build around a table.
Today, Nina the Greek is a modern Greek restaurant with a deeply personal heart: a meeting of Vancouver memories, Mediterranean spirit, Bahraini warmth, and a kitchen shaped by collaboration.
It is a place for long lunches that become afternoons, dinners that linger into the night, plates made to be shared, and people who arrive as guests but are welcomed like friends.
This is Nina the Greek.
A little piece of our story, with a seat waiting for you.
